Routine, April 2024

Another snapshot of how life hums.

Context: I now have a full time job. I want to maintain a healthy body (not just for looks), I don’t want to stop reading like in the past when I had a full time job. I want to remain active on LinkedIn and to maintain my profile there.

Daily Schedule:

  • 6:00 AM: Walk 🐶.
  • Before 7:30 AM: Meditate, laundry, breakfast for Chai, wake the kids up.
  • 7:30 – 9:00 AM: Work out on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays. Other days head to work.
  • 7:30 – 8:30 AM / 9:00 – 10:00 AM: Commute, read.
  • 8:30 / 10:00 – 2:00 PM: Work.
  • 2:00 – 3:00 PM: Lunch, walk, read.
  • 3:00 – 7:00 PM: Work.
  • 7:00 – 8:00 PM: Commute, do nothing.
  • 8:00 – 10:00 PM: Dinner, get the kids ready for bed, catch up with wife.
  • 10:00 – 10:30 PM: Shower, read, get ready for bed.

I think this routine is pretty much set for now. I do want to be able to sleep more, as things tend to get out of control at night and I end up sleeping late.

On weekends, I want to be with my daughter, chat with her, by taking her to her activities. I want to spend time with my son. I want to have our routine meals with family (mom, wife, in-laws). I want to relax, don’t do much, and just be with my family. I have not been able to cook much.

Workouts:

It’s the same routine as before, but shorter:

  • 15 minutes of stretching
  • 15 minutes of HIIT to get the heart rates up
  • 30 minutes of weights

Meals:

Breakfast: Coffee.
Lunch: an apple, eggs/chicken breast from Hana Musubi and soup from Pret.
Dinner: mostly at home.

Writing:

I want to post on LinkedIn 3 times a week in order to maintain my profile. This routine has also become almost like a reminder for myself of how I want to show up at work. I’ve found myself reposting old writings that were important for me to remember. It’s a form of meditation almost.

I want to write weekly on this blog. It has been good to carve out some time to think about things a little deeper. I have not been consistent on this front yet.

The biggest gap in this routine is time at the school, including contributing to the school and participating in school activities. I have missed all events at the school. This is not ideal. Hopefully once I am more settled at work I will be able to find time to attend those events.
